Abbreviations
yfwd – yarn forward. Place yarn to the front of your work then over the needle to knit the next stitch
Sl 1 - slip the first stitch (do not knit into it)
K2tog – knit 2 together
Stretchy cast off

Edge Pattern
Row 1 – sl 1 knit wise K3 (yfwd k2tog) seven times, yfwd, k2 (21 stitches)
Row 2 and all even rows knit
Row 3- sl 1 knit wise K6 (yfwd k2tog) six times, yfwd, k2 (22 stitches)
Row 5- sl 1 knit wise K9 (yfwd k2tog) five times, yfwd, k2 (23 stitches)
Row 7 - s1 k wise knit all stitches
Row 8- cast off 3 stitches using stretchy cast off (see abbreviations)
Rows - 9,10,11,12 – knit
Repeat rows 1 – 12 until you have 24 points in total
Repeat rows 1 – 7 once
Next row cast off in stretchy cast off leaving the last stitch on the right hand needle.
Without turning your work pick up 171(inc stitch already on needle) stitches evenly along the top edge. As a rule each ladder between the garter stitch should be a stitch. If you don't have the exact number increase to the required number on the next row.
