Using black yarn, working from left to right, pick up 23sts along the right side of block 2. Place a marker here. Turn and pick up 23sts along the left side of block 3.
Row 1 - knit until 2 sts before the marker k2tog slip marker, k2tog, knit to the end of the row
Row 2 - knit
Repeat rows 1 - 2 once more.
Cut off black yarn and join in your chosen colour.
Work rows 1 - 2 until you have 24sts on your needle ending with row 2
Next row - Using black yarn work rows 1 - 2 twice (20sts)
Next row - cut off black yarn and join in coloured yarn. work rows 1 - 2 until you have 4sts left
Next row - k2tog remove marker, k2tog
Next row - k2tog - cut yarn and pull through final stitch.
